Do the cords show in the window when the top-down shade is open from the
top down?
Yes, you can see the cords when a top-down shade is lowered. If you look
closely at the photograph on the left, you can see the cords. When I am
asked to make a top-down shade, I invite the client over and show them a
top-down shade. It is important that they understand this aspect of a
shade. What I have found is that you notice the cords for the first few
days that the shade is up. Then they tend to become unimportant and you
only focus on your beautiful and very useful shade.

My window is only 3/4" deep. Can I still make an inside-mount
top-down shade?
There is one way to make an inside mount shade in a window that has very
little depth. You can attach the hardware to the inside top of the
window trim. The photograph below was sent to me by a customer who used
screw eyes at the top of her shade. She didn't even bother with a valance,
and ended up with a simple, functional look.

My top-down cord lock doesn't work very well. What should I do?
A cord lock needs weight to operate properly. A small top-down shade may
not be heavy enough. You should replace the stiffener board in the top
pocket of the shade with a metal weight rod.
