Maureen and I have been corresponding for several months about instructions on making a double Roman shade. With my brief directions and Maureen's ingenuity, she produced these wonderful shades. Here is the message Maureen sent along with the photographs.
Dear Ms. Sundermann,
Thank you so very much for your web site and your email response to my question. The shades turned out as wonderful as I had hoped. I made them for my sister and she is thrilled.
They are two roman shades on a single mounting board with velcro installed on both front and back. Two sets of hardware (pulleys and cord locks) were installed with the second cord lock
slightly offset from the first so the cords wouldn't be on top of each other. I used your grommet idea to feed the cords from the back of the sheers to the hardware in the middle of the
mounting board. Many thanks to Doug Millar for his photos - they were very helpful.

The sheers were a little different since there were two layers of sheer fabric instead of a lining. I cut the two layers of sheers the same width and used 'Fray Check' on the seams (since the fraying would be visible) and the battens had to be stitched into place instead of using glue. I used aluminum weight rods because the shades were so lightweight.
I can't thank you enough - they were soooo worth it!
Sincerely,
Maureen Mitchell

All I can say is WOW! These shades are so yummy. Maureen and her sister used a great color scheme. I'm planning on more detailed description, complete with drawings in the near future. This topic is going to be one of the new programs I am taping for Creative Living with Sheryl Borden next spring.
